Stora Enso has opened an Innovation Centre for packaging at its head office in Helsinki, targeting converters, manufacturers, brand owners and retailers.

The centre is designed to develop ‘innovative and sustainable packaging concepts’ and includes a packaging design lab, presentation areas and virtual reality retail technology.
Sustainability is the backbone of our business and our dedication to renewable materials will be highly influential in how we collaborate with customers in the centre,” said Karl-Henrik Sundström, CEO, Stora Enso.

In addition to supporting design and R&D, the centre acts as a show room for new products, prototypes and designs related to packaging.

Stora Enso’s Global Responsibility Performance Report 2014 recently won four awards in the independent annual sustainability report review, commissioned by FIBS, Finland’s non-profit corporate responsibility network.

The four awards include the best sustainability report, best reporting on Human Rights and Tax Footprint and the top choice of a consortium of Finnish corporate sustainability students.

In FIBS’ review Stora Enso’s report was acknowledged for its extensive and transparent sustainability reporting, with a special focus on reporting related to the target-oriented management of human rights.

Organised this year for the 20th time, the FIBS review covered a total of 173 sustainability reports, including reports produced by all of the companies listed on Nasdaq OMX Helsinki together with selected reports from the private and public sector.
