General Mills has paid tribute to Shirley Temple - who featured on its packaging and promotions - after the actress died last week aged 85.
As a child star, her ‘adorable image’ promoted Wheaties and Bisquick in the 1930s.
In 1936, when ‘Shirley Mania’ was at its peak, Wheaties featured a series of 10 collectible movie images on cereal boxes.
Temple also fronted a Bisquick campaign to get children to drink more milk. A free Shirley Temple mug for children came with every large box of the pre-mixed baking product. Her face was also featured on other items in a set, including cereal bowl, milk mug, and pitcher.
Shirley Temple made her name as a child star in the 1930s. Famous as an actress, she also became a diplomat and was a United States Ambassador.
