Post recession trends in processing and packaging

FoodProductionDaily.com caught up with Ishida Europe’s Torsten Giese at the Emballage show in Paris last week to discover his take on how the sector is recovering from the global recession and how this is informing development trends.

Improving consumer sentiment leading to greater consumption of ready-to-eat foods, more shorter term contracts for food manufacturers and the need to reduce downtime and boost flexibility are all trends that need to be addressed by equipment and packaging outfits, said the marketing chief.

He explains what companies are doing to meet these challenges and what the coming 12 months could have in store for the industry.
