Bosch updates Varioflow conveyor

Bosch Rexroth's latest version of its Varioflow conveyor provides a
system for channelling product between machines in food processing
and food packaging plants.

The VarioFlow S chain conveyor system features a newly developed plastic chain with a higher tensile force and better flexibility than previous models, the companysaid in a press release.

Users can choose from two versions of the VarioFlow S depending on the type of food being conveyed. The aluminum model is best suited for the transport of food packages in dry environments, thecompany said. The stainless steel model is targeted at food processors needing higher hygienic standards.

Five chain widths of 80mm, 100mm, 160mm, 240mm and 320mms allows the conveyer to be adjusted to the foods being conveyed.

"Stabile flat, static friction, and cleated chains with chain tensile forces of up to 1,250 Newtons are available as required for various products and transport tasks," Boschstated. "The patented curve solution with integrated ball bearings substantially reduces the system's internal friction when compared to other solutions."

The nearly closed chain surface allows products to be transported directly on the chain without using workpiece pallets, the company said, adding that the VarioFlow S requires less cleaning and maintenance thanfully closed systems.

The conveyer's slide rails are clipped into the lateral section profiles allowing a faster set up time as riveting is no longer necessary. After the rails begin to wear down, they can be rotated 180° andre-used.

The chain links are divided into two parts, allowing a damaged part to be removed without using a special tool. Buyers will have CAD software available to see what parts are available for theVarioFlow S. The software also calculates drive performance and occurring forces and torques to help with part selection.

The VarioFlow S is compatible with Bosch's range of aluminum modular systems. Bosch Rexroth is a wholly owned subsidiary of Robert Bosch. The parent company had sales of €3.7bn in 2003.
