Bosch: Interpack top trends

Martin Dupick, global product manager, Bosch Packaging Technology, spoke to FoodProductionDaily about the top trends influencing the food manufacturing industry at Interpack 2014.

Top of the list was easy to open packaging, hygienic design and reducing downtime.

There are certain key trends at the moment,” said Dupick, “Meeting customer requirements to make flexible machines, packaging convenience such as easy to tear open and close features.

“It’s up to us to have the answers and decrease the CTO (cost to own) for our customers via hygienic design, reducing downtime, reducing changeover times and increasing speed as much as possible.

The real challenge is to be the best, increasing competency, to address the needs of our customers on a holistic basis as a door to exit door technology offering them a complete system.”

Dupick said when attending tradeshows, such as the one at Dusseldorf, in Germany, May 8-14, people always want to know 'what is new'.

Our key word is flexibility,” he added, “For example, the new two-in-one biscuit machine and we can now offer customers modular hygienic machines.”

Designed to meet hygiene standards, Bosch showcased its FVS auger filler and SVC 2620, a vertical bagger, for enhanced cleanability as well as its Sigpack RN vertical sachet machine for liquid applications with a cleaning function for thorough sanitation of product-contact parts.

The company chose Interpack as the European debut of its inverted horizontal flow wrapper Pack 301 ID. The technology is developed for packaging soft, sticky, difficult-to-handle products.

It also presented its SVC 2620 to guests which is the latest addition to its SVC platform. This was first introduced at FachPack and Pack Expo 2013 and is available in different hygienic levels ranging from wet wipe down to pressurized wash down.
