Washington agency, the Community Economic Revitalization Board (CERB), which funds private sector development and jobs, has awarded $2.1m to the projects in grants and loans.
Darigold, a Seattle-based dairy cooperative, will create 25 new jobs and retain 137 existing employees when it constructs a wastewater pre-treatment facility in the Port of Sunnyside. The project will receive $1m from CERB and $5m of government funds as well as $22m of Darigold’s own money.
The McGregor Company, a fertilizer and agri-chemical company, will create 10 jobs in Whitman County, Washington and invest more than $10.7m from a CERB subsidy, local funds, and its own money to improve its rail infrastructure to support additional carriages delivering raw materials.
Foods in Season, a supplier of wild-foraged foods, which sells to luxury restaurants, will create 10 posts when it constructs a food processing and distribution centre at the Port of Camas-Washougal in south west Washington.
The port will provide $1.35m in local funds and CERB has loaned $499,000 for the factory’s construction, while Foods in Season will invest $500,000 in equipment.
