BakeryandSnacks has dug into fresh IRI data to dish up the latest list of top 10 best-selling cereal brands in the US for 2014.
There has been change in the US cereal market over the past year – but have the best-selling brands moved? And has there been change at the top?
The top 10 list for 2014 has been made using data from the Chicago-based research firm on dollar sales for the 52 weeks ending August 10, 2014. Sales figures were taken from multi-outlets – supermarkets, drugstores, mass market retailers, military commissaries and select club and dollar retail chains across the US.
Total sales for the US ready-to-eat cereal category were pegged at $9.02bn – down on last year where the category pulled in $9.4bn for the 52 weeks ending June 16, 2013, according to IRI.
* NB This year Special K doesn't feature in the top 10 as we have looked at the data for individual brands within its portfolio. In last year's top 10, it featured as combined Special K and Special K Red Berries sales.
