PepsiCo said the fire has not impacted production at the Walkers site
A fire at one of PepsiCo’s biggest UK snack plants was minor and has not impacted production, the company says.

The fire broke out at the Walkers snack food production site in Leicester last Saturday 18.

A PepsiCo spokesperson told BakeryandSnacks.com that the fire crew “dealt very quickly with a minor incident that occurred during some planned maintenance activity”.

The company would not provide further details on the cause of the fire, but added that operations at the site had not been affected.

The snack plant was restored in late 2013 after an earlier fire in October, believed to have started from a deep fat chip fryer in the factory.

The site produces Walkers branded crisps – the UK equivalent to Lay’s.
