Secondary packaging machinery companies like Kliklok-Woodman work to meet food customer demands for high-performance equipment that is simple to operate.

The company showcased its packaging machinery (including carton formers, wrappers, baggers, and other equipment) at Interpack 2014.

Janet Darnley, marketing manager for Kliklok-Woodman, told FoodProductionDaily the manufacturer’s line of primary and secondary packaging equipment constitutes a “promise” to the packaging industry to provide high-tech machines to meet challenging market demands.

As consumer decisions are often influenced by packaging, sometimes it’s the packaging itself that embodies our promise rather than the machines,” she said. “Walk down the frozen food isle you will see pizza, pie, frozen dinners/entrees, meal trays, cakes, appetizers, flow wrapped pancakes, muffins, cupcakes, frozen fish, shrimp, biscuits, bag-n-box applications, and club store cartons as an example of products packaged on Kliklok equipment.”

She added snack and confectionery products (including candies, nuts, crackers, cookies, and other nibbles) frequently are packaged using Kliklok-Woodman’s bagging machines.

Carton forming

The TransFormer top-load carton former reportedly operates at up to 120 cartons per minute with a single head. It can form lock-style or glue-style cartons on the same machine.

The carton former’s features include an ergonomic waist-level hopper which reportedly allows easy carton loading, the firm’s Insight color touchscreen HMI, and a servo-driven, high-precision THK linear rail plunger mounting system for precision in head-to-cavity positioning.

Bag making

The Woodman Apache Universal Format Bagmaker has been fitted with an updated continuous motion machine, with increased speed compared to previous models. The Apache CM is said to produce up to 160 bags per minute for a variety of products, including cereals, candy, nuts, crackers, cookies, and powders, with wide package size and format flexibility.

Additionally, Kliklok-Woodman offers its Celox endload cartoner, designed with the supplier’s rotary carton feeder and high-speed specification of up to 325 cartons per minute, with an icon-based color touch creen. The company also prouduces the Certiwrap 150 wraparound cartoning machines, which handles ready-meal trays, tubs, pizzas, and other applications
