Supermarket chain Sainsbury’s has temporarily removed a number of Houmous products from its stores due to a ‘taste issue’.

There are 19 items in the range that are temporarily unavailable across UK stores.

Full stock is expected within a couple of days.

A Sainsbury’s spokesman told BakeryandSnacks a small number of customers said the product didn’t taste the way it normally would and so the supermarket has gone back to the supplier to investigate the matter further.

We've temporarily removed a number of houmous lines from sale due to a production issue at our supplier. We expect to be fully stocked within a couple of days and we are sorry for any inconvenience this may cause,” it said in a statement.

We were made aware of a quality issue. And yes, we’ve removed a number of lines,” the spokesman added.
