Warburtons bread has been discovered to contain more salt than any other in the UK, according to a study carried out by The Independent.

The baker’s average loaf contains 1.08g of salt per 100g, 0.01g more than Hovis and 0.22g more than Sainsbury’s, which has been praised for being heart-healthy.

Warburtons was reported as saying that it had cut salt by over 30 per cent in recent years and that it was confident that it would meet the Food Standards Agency salt targets for 2010.
